"I'm not moody, disorganized, or self absorbed, I'm artistic!"

My mom and I ran across this quote in a store once, and we cracked up!! I was so very thrilled! I have found a phrase that can describe me! You could add messy, lazy, distracted.....But here's the thing- I like things clean and organized, and I want it that way. But its difficult for me because of my distraction level, because of my need for artistic vision, creative outlets, inspiration to get the mundane done. This came to light again yesterday, as I found myself 'bored'. Now, I could clean out the fridge, scrub the bathrooms, mop the floors, meal plan..... BUT UGH!! I can't seem to get in gear for those sorts of tasks unless I'm inspired. Sooo, that may look messy or lazy, but really my mind just needs stimulation! I decided that I didn't like my computer area, appeared too cluttered. But to fix it, I couldn't just clean it up, I needed a master plan! One of creativity and adventure. Sooooo instead of doing the dishes in the sink, I got to work sanding and painting an old cabinet red that we had out in the garage. Well then, while I'm at it, I don't like the wall behind the computer either, too blah.... So I started a harlequin pattern in chocolate brown and tan on the wall. I'm now excited and have energy! The office area is a mess, there is sanding dust everywhere, and there is a half painted wall: To some, messy and disorganized. To me: FABULOUS, EXCITING, INSPIRING!!!
*(I made myself do the dishes this morning, and clean up the kitchen. So that now my reward is being artistic the rest of the day!!)

The Laundry is finally finished!

YES, I know. I clearly lead an exciting and adventuresome life. Elation and joy has overcome me this evening as I have conquered. I have won the battle. I have accomplished ALL the laundry! Every last sock !( well, except for the socks in the missing sock basket which are waiting for their unfound mate!) I'm sure this will sound ridiculous for those reading this who do not have a family, or are those perfect people who actually do a load everyday and promplty and neatly put it away. Let's just say, laundry is one of my least favorite chores. I'd rather clean the toilets! Dishes fall second on my least favorite list, and often left unfinished. I'm really a great housewife otherwise. I'm a mean decorator, fantastic cook, great gardener, and a good mommy. I can scrub and clean with the best of them, but laundry? Do I have to?

Being what it is, let me explain why my unloved task became nothing but daunting. First, we moved 3 months ago. And when we moved, I actually just moved dirty laundry in the baskets. When we got here, it took several days before the washer and dryer got hooked up. Second, both the washer and the dryer were on the fritz. The washer was leaking, and the dryer was overheating and sucking up clothes and ruining them. Are you starting to see the back up here? Third, we had a toilet overflow in our front bathroom which flooded 3 rooms of the house. Everything else took priority. We finally got the washer fixed and the dryer semi fixed, but the backup now...... just too overwhelming to face. Fourth, (yes there is even a fourth!) I've been having back pain from all the moving, and doing laundry aggravates the pain.

Ok, am I getting ANY sympathy yet?! I felt doomed by a world of dirty clothes, towels and sheets. Literally just doing a load here and there to get by. So yesterday it began. A marathon of whites, darks, colors and hand washables. And I, with great pride, tell you, it is FINISHED! I actually got that butterfly feeling of excitement in my tummy!

I've informed the family that they are to continue to wear exactly what they have on for the next three days minimum. Because, I fear my emotional state would not fare well if I were to see one more thread in those the baskets!

"You bought a what?! "

I came down with a cold Friday night which led me to ask Zach to take Maddy to a princess themed birthday party for a 5 year old on Saturday. I knew he would be thrilled, of course. But being the good guy he is, he agreed. The plot thickens, as I need to have him shop for a gift for the birthday girl, on the way to the party. I packed up the gift bag and tissue paper, and a handmade card from Maddy. I then give him detailed instructions on exactly what to buy. I pull Maddy's 'Pretty Pretty Princess' game out of the closet, and say, "Here, this is what I think would work, I've already confirmed it with the mother that she doesn't have this yet. This is what the game looks like, and here's where to find it at the store...... If for any reason its not there, please have Maddy help you pick out a princess dress up item."

Upon their arrival home, I was debriefed on the party. It was what I expected to hear, 30 kids, noisy, chaotic, Maddy had a lot of fun. I then asked, " So what did you end up buying for the gift?"

His response," A smelly doll."

"WHAT,what are you talking about?"

"I dunno, some doll in a bottle, that smelled, and had a pig bobble head with it."

" Are you kidding me, I don't even understand, what do you mean, in a bottle, and it smelled?!"

"You know, like a coke bottle, and it smelled good, I guess. Maddy picked it out."

" What happened to ' Pretty Pretty Princess'?"

" I don't know, Maddy found this and wanted to get it for her."

" O.k. let me see if I have this, you bought a doll that smells supposedly good, that is in a bottle, has a pig with it , that has a bobble head, and you put it in the gift bag, and gave it to the little girl ? Maddy picked it out and you didn't question it?"

" No, I dunno what little girls like, I don't know anything about this stuff!"

Yeah, I know this is what I get for sending my husband to buy a gift for a 5 year old girls birthday party. Ah, at least he took Maddy to the party. That was very brave of him, I'll give him that. I immediately called the mother Monday morning to hopefully explain this incredible gift. She described it exactly as Zach did. As I was rambling on in embarrassment about it, she laughs and says, "You know what's funny, that is Emma's favorite gift!"

Moral of my story. I guess kids know exactly what each other likes, even if its a smelly doll in a bottle!

CAT in my sink!

This cracks me up! This is Sadie, one of our 3 cats. She is the one that is the funniest, and the nicest. She has an odd habit of finding anything she could possibly fit into and use as a bed or cozy spot to just hang out. I found her here in the sink that is waiting to be put in our bathroom. It is currently on the living room floor. It really made me laugh! I thought, boy this cat sure is creative...keeps herself entertained. I have seen cats lay in many different spots, but this cat takes the cake on creativity! I take pictures now whenever I find her in a comical position. I could do a whole montage of, 'Sadie in stuff' !

These last 2 are nothing! I've got shots of her in purses, drawers, shelves, cupboards, baskets, bags, boxes, hats, and anything else she can get her body into!
