MORE from the MIND OF MADALYNE:

( I've saved up some of my favorite from the last 2 months)

1) Maddy:" Mommy, your underwear are boring..."
Me: " Oh really, I didn't know they were boring"
Maddy: " Yeah they are... you need to get some with horsies on them!!"

2) Maddy brought home a pretty finger painting from school-swirls of golds, yellows and other light colors. I asked her, " what is this a picture of?" Very matter of factual she says... " inside of a burrito." In a totally 'DUH' like tone.

3) Maddy's best friend, Isla and family, were in Scotland for awhile and Maddy wrote a letter to send to her. I explained that we needed to go to the Post Office to make sure we put the right postage on, in order for the letter to go so far away.
Later that day upon pulling into the Post Office, Maddy says,
" So, this is Scotland ?? !! "

(mind you, I had spent much time showing her globes and pics of where Isla was...hmm, but that just doesn't compute in a 5 year olds mind...)
'
4) Riding home from school in the car:
Maddy: " We got to have tambourines for snack today!"
Me: ( after thinking hard for a moment), "Do you maybe mean tangerine?"
Maddy: " I dunno, but they were really good!"

5) In her class, as a teacher aid, I was sitting at the teacher's desk doing some work while having the wonderful opportunity of listening to the teacher and the class. This is what I heard:

(while reviewing after a story)
Mrs. Burnham: " So class, who can tell me what the Indian's made their teepee's out of?"
Maddy: "MEAT!!"

... and a few mins later:

Mrs. Burnham: " The Indian's used every part of the buffalo... what did they do with the fat ? "
Another child: "Cooking."
Maddy: "Macaroni and Cheese!!!!"

(and she was dead serious!!! I was dying... trying not to distract the class w my laughter!!)
M.I.A.

Ok, I know... If you read my blog, I'm so sorry! I dropped off the internet planet for a few weeks! I also abandoned flickr, myspace, and email.... I was an equal opportunity "abandoner" ! I think I was just using my creative energy elsewhere... I painted some signs for friends, painted some things for the school, and painted two very large horses on my daughter's walls. I also made some jewelry, and cut out 30 little indian vests for Maddy's school feast. So my story is, my creative juices were taxed and there were none left for my online creativity! I updated flickr today, and have blog's planned for this week! So rest assured, I'm here this week for a bit of entertainment and peek into my life once again! :p

Pregnancy, Estrogen, and Women Q & A !!

Q: Should I have a baby after 35?
A: No, 35 children is enough.

Q : I'm two months pregnant now. When will my baby move?
A: With any luck, right after he finishes college.

Q : What is the most reliable method to determine a baby's sex?
A: Childbirth.

Q: My wife is five months pregnant and so moody that sometimes she's borderline irrational.
A: So what's your question?

Q : My childbirth instructor says it's not pain I'll feel during labor, but pressure. Is she right?
A: Yes, in the same way that a tornado might be called an air current.

Q: When is the best time to get an epidural?
A: Right after you find out you're pregnant.

Q : Is there any reason I have to be in the delivery room while my wife is in labour?
A: Not unless the word 'alimony' means anything to you.

Q: Is there anything I should avoid while recovering from childbirth?
A: Yes, pregnancy.

Q : Do I have to have a baby shower?
A: Not if you change the baby's diaper very quickly.

Q : Our baby was born last week. When will my wife begin to feel and act normal again?
A: When the kids are in college.

A fall 'must have':
Pumpkin-Chocolate chip Muffins !!

I'm baking my second batch today of these muffins. I have two friends that bake ALL the time, and I call them my "fat friends" (you know who you are!! ;) ). Because every time I'm visiting, they are feeding me homebaked goods and they are HUGE contributors to the flabby belly of mine!! (btw--they are not fat, its me that's getting fat because of them!!) One of those two introduced me to these a couple years back, and I cannot go without them now. These muffins have quite the following ... several of my friends now make these too. I plan on sharing the batch I'm making today, otherwise, they will all end up landing somewhere around my waistline! I'd like to share this very yummy recipe for those of you who would like to join me in overeating these scrumptious muffins every fall too!!
